About Us

The Marcia Mounsey Foundation is a non-profit organization founded in 1997
committed to providing musical, athletic, and cultural opportunities for children in
Northwest Denver.

The MMF partners with local families by granting partial scholarships for private
training in extra-curricular activities like music, sports, art, and dance.  Scholarship
recipients have honed their skills on a variety of musical instruments, as well as
on the soccer field, balance beam, and track.

The Foundation also cooperates with local organizations to sponsor events which
encourage development in these same areas, such as 5-K races, basketball
camps, musical events, and poetry readings in local area schools.

Since 1997 the Foundation has distributed over $80,000 in scholarships to
hundreds of talented young people.

The Foundation has no paid staff, and all proceeds go directly to helping young
people. We are a 501©3 organization, and all donations are tax deductible.

Who is Marcia Mounsey?

Marcia Mounsey was an active violinist, gymnast, and high-jumper who grew up in
Northwest Denver.  Marcia was acutely aware of the many advantages her parents
had provided her in the form of private training in music and athletics.  She often
expressed a wish that more of her friends and classmates had the same
opportunities.

When illness cut her life short at the age of 17 in April of 1997, her
family and friends saw the Marcia Mounsey Foundation as a natural extension of
Marcia’s passion and generosity in life.

In her memory, friends and family have made donations to this cause, and the network of caring people grows yearly.
